Daring to be Different

'Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results' - Albert Einstein.
I thought that the perfect way to start this blog would be with a quote from old clever clogs himself.
As it happens, I wholeheartedly agree with Mr Einstein’s sentiments. And that’s why I’m passionate about constantly improving the way we serve our clients. Indeed, we're daring to be different!
I attended an event recently, hosted by Nucleus Financial who we use quite extensively. Their CEO, a chap called David Ferguson who I know well, said something which struck a real chord. 'What’s excellent today may be irrelevant tomorrow.'
And it’s that desire to be different and to improve that is propelling Nucleus whilst also helping us to ensure that we are helping our clients plan properly for the future.
So what do we do differently?
Well for starters, using a technological platform such as the one that Nucleus provides makes it a lot easier for people to see where there money is and what it's doing. Simply, by having things all in one place from an administrative point of view and being 'managed' efficiently as opposed to it dotted all over the place with providers who are akin to factories, can make life a hell of lot easier and more intuitive for people and their money.
Although it's not for everyone, a Bransonesc and anti-establishment way can unquestionably create a fresh and exciting approach.
It's as much about the experience as it is about the mechanics where the depth of the relationship between adviser and client is crucial.
Unlike some (not all I hasten to add) financial planners, we focus on building those relationships and ensure clients are getting what they want rather than simply increasing the number of transactions.
If a client can feel confident about picking up the phone to ask anything, we know we’re doing our job right. There's no such thing as a stupid question.
Ease of use for our clients is a key the team here at Essentially Financial are focussed on. Every step of the financial planning journey needs to be simplified, information made easily accessible and ways of making contact open at all times. After all as we say 'life is for living and to us, that's what counts'.
Innovation and technology are driving the world forward and sometimes at a frightening pace. But the personal touch will never go out of fashion.
At the very heart of any innovation, change or new idea we have a simple question. 'Will this benefit our clients and make their financial planning journey easier, more enjoyable and allow them to live the life they want to?'
If the answer is yes we’ll do it. If not, then we won’t.
As I mentioned previously, on Friday 11th March I’m being sent to jail. It’s all for a good cause though as I’m taking part in the St Luke’s Hospice’s Jail & Bail fundraiser.
Thanks to all of you who have sponsored so far. If others feel motivated to donate and help get me out of jail, there’s still time by clicking www.justgiving.com/Les-Conway/.
