A week like Novak Djokovic

As regular readers of this blog will know, I’m a bit obsessive when it comes to planning. Not just financial planning but preparation and staying organised in general.

I was asked the other day by a friend what do I do every day?

That’s an easy question as I have a structure for my working days which runs across the week to allocate all the things I need to do.

Certain days are allocated to ‘stuff’ by which I mean anything that doesn't involve me working directly with clients.

Those days involve me writing my regular columns and blogs, keeping on top of admin and planning strategy.

The reason I block out days for tasks is so the remaining days of the week can be dedicated towards working with clients.

The ‘stuff’ days mean that I have no distractions when I meet or work with clients. My mindset is  focused solely on listening to them and responding appropriately.

Client work can involve initial meetings, annual reviews and general catch ups. I explained to my friend who asked the question that when the fantastic tennis player Novak Djokovic plays a match he really PLAYS. His focus is solely on winning the game.

Likewise, on my client days my focus is solely on them.

Another block of time I have to allocate on a monthly basis is my volunteer work as Chairman of the Pinner & Northwood Business Club.

This month it’s been particularly busy. The club has overseen the installation of flower boxes around the village where the upkeep is being paid for by local businesses. They look great and a big thank you goes to local business woman Kara Lines who has worked hard to bring this great idea to life and to all for sponsoring.

This month we also welcome back to Pinner the Duck Pond Market which returns after a winter break.

Finally, we are proud to have an affiliated link with Watford Football Club.  Aside from that I would like to thank Nik Allen from MyNews for his generous hospitality last Tuesday Evening where they were match sponsors.  It was a good game, I was invited onto the pitch for the pre-match official photos, Watford beet Rotherham United 3-0 and we had a good night.
