Our dreams can come true... if we have the courage to pursue them

Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha was a Thai billionaire businessman and the founder, owner and chairman of King Power Duty Free. He was also the owner of the Premier League football club, Leicester City from 2010.

From being a struggling Championship side, when he purchased the club, he believed in his passion and the people around him. Then, the unthinkable happened (at least in sporting terms), where Leicester City were promoted to the Premier League in 2013/14 and then went on to win the 2015-16 Premier League title, after starting the season as 5000/1 rank outsiders.

Sadly, on the 27th October 2018, Vichai's AgustaWestland AW169 helicopter where he was on board, tragically crashed outside the King Power Stadium shortly after taking off from the pitch following a game. There were no survivors.

As an honourable tribute, the club organised for a banner to be displayed within the upper stands of Wembley Stadium during the 2021 FA Cup final which Leicester won. It was emblazoned with a quote from Walt Disney, which read 'Our dreams can come true... if we have the courage to pursue them’.

Whether you’re into football or not, this is a powerful happy, sad, yet happy story. But evidence that life is not a rehearsal, and we only get one crack at it.

Organising our lives using lifestyle financial planning is essential, to achieve what we want to achieve. And where most people have modest ambitions.

The issue is, that so many people don’t know how or whether they can actually achieve their lifetime goals and objectives. At the end of the day, it’s about understanding your finances whilst gaining and maintaining control of your life. Enabling us to do the things we want to do, when we want to do them.

The key message is that, although money’s important, it’s what we do with it that counts.
